Benefits to your Organisation.
The MSc Accounting does not simply cover accounting
issues, but rather encourages the student to look at the business as a
whole and to consider such things as marketing, business development
and strategic issues on a day to day basis.
The Work-based Research project, which makes up a
good proportion of study, is a significant piece of student-directed
learning, based on a detailed investigation into a business related
phenomenon.
Students must demonstrate originality, clarity, data
collection and analysis skills and the ability to think pro-actively
outside their normal span of work.
The subject of the research project is chosen by the
student, depending on the issues currently facing their company and
the needs of their business. Once they have decided upon a subject
students are assigned a personal supervisor who guides them through
the process.
The aim of the project is to not only conduct a
one-off piece of consultancy work, but to change the way students
think about the business as a whole in order to become more proactive
in areas of the company other than their day-to-day tasks. It
encourages employees to reach beyond their job descriptions and to
pro-actively seek opportunities and combats problems within the
company strategy.
Mode of teaching and Learning:
Please note this is not a distance learning programme, and you must attend
the two weekend modules near Heathrow airport. The programme is delivered via what is known as the 'executive' model. This
allows busy executives to attend limited, intensive face-to-face sessions with
much of the learning taking place between and after those face-to-face
sessions. It is vital that participants have daily access to the Web and
email. Much of the group learning takes place in the virtual community
created and maintained via the Webucate system. For more information about
this student support system click here.

"Thought I should drop you a
note now that the MSc is over! .... I
really enjoyed the course and on reflection, I can't believe how
quickly the last year has gone. Hopefully the three colleagues that
I recommended the course to will meet the standard of achieving a
distinction too! (Just a shame that your new £20 Amazon voucher
offer per new enrolment didn't exist when I recommended the course
to the three of them!) ..... When
I needed to contact MDC for things, queries were handled promptly
and staff were very helpful. ...... I
know you used a quote from me in your last newsletter, and if you
need to use someone as a case study in future, feel free to get in
touch." ....... Marcus Bailey, Lloyds TSB
